As the team at Makemedia navigate the digital landscape we often find products, tools, websites & technologies that interest us and think will interest our peers, clients and even competitors! We thought we’d share these as a part of our TeamNotes series.

Digital Media Strategies

We spent 3 days this week at the fantastic Digital Media Strategies conference with our sister company MakeReal, showcasing our work in virtual reality to publishers. As VR technology advances, publishers are looking for opportunities to engage users through an entirely new experience. We were onboard to demonstrate the existing technology and discuss future developments.

We also took the chance to attend some of the talks and particularly enjoyed Natasha Christie-Millers talk ‘The Evolution of the Product Mix’. Ascential have transformed from a traditional publisher to one almost entirely driven by subscription revenues by becoming a data intelligence provider and embedding themselves in their customer’s workflows.

UX Camp Brighton

Speaking of events in March, UX Camp Brighton is happening on the 25th at The Skiff and being co-organised by our very own Tom Prior. Taking the form of a bar camp style ‘unconference’ attendees run or participate in 20 minute talks, plus there’s a UX quiz and after party! It’s sold out but you can still add yourself to the waiting list.


Running in Brighton throughout March, SpringForward is a series of events celebrating the role of women in digital culture. So far we have signed up for Ladies that UX and are looking forward to signing up for Collaboration Techniques (for people in digital).
