Makemedia improvement day

Last week the whole Makemedia office upped sticks and spent a day out brainstorming ways to improve the business at the lovely Eagle pub. We identified problems and issues and then collectively suggested solutions which will make a real difference. This was a very interesting experience, great for team bonding and definitely recommended to other businesses out there as a way of being aware of what’s going on throughout the company and as a really great problem solving exercise – after all twelve heads are better than one!

We finished the day with a pub quiz, being in the right environment for that sort of thing, and guess who won?

Robin speaks at Brighton & Hove Chamber of Commerce

It was an early morning today for Robin, our Commercial Director,  as he was speaking at the Brighton and Hove Chamber Breakfast. He answered a few questions from the Chamber including..

What’s the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome so far since starting Makemedia?

Building up knowledge gaps and learning to listen. We’ve had some great mentoring at Makemedia from people like Simon Conroy at Madgex, Mark Riminton at Shirlaws and Tim and Jacky Misson of Rise which has really helped.

How closely do you watch how you’re doing financially?

Very closely. Being aware of cashflow down to the very penny has helped us know where we are going and to run the business well. It also means that you are less stressed as you know exaclty what is happening in your business.

When are you happiest?

When I’m proud of our output, this is very important to me.

What’s been the biggest benefit of joining the Chamber for you?

Meeting Laura our Marketing and Business Development Manager*, gaining experience through working on Chamber groups and having a presence in the local business community.

*not at all influenced by my presence in the room I’m sure!

So here’s a great big “THANK YOU!” to the BHCC and everyone who attended today.

And here he is in action!
